About Foot Clinic Services

Treatment & Services
We provide treatment for ALL foot conditions. Below is a list of the most common treatment/services we provide. If you do not see what you are looking for below, give us a call or send us a message.
We provide custom orthotics for all styles of footwear and stand 100% behind our orthotics.

Orthotics are a medical device that will not only treat your current foot conditions, but will ensure a healthy foot future. Our orthotics are made only by non-weight-bearing methods (plaster-casting or 3D Scanner). It is only by plastar-casting or 3D Scanning your feet in a non-weightbearing position that we can accurately capture a corrected image of your foot and correct any underlying biomechanical abnormalities.

Our orthotics are backed by a lifetime guarantee against breakage, and we offer complimentary orthotic check-ups. We recommend bringing your shoes to your orthotic consultation to help tailor your orthotics to your shoe wardrobe.
Plantar Fasciitis is an inflammation of the connective tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot called the plantar fascia. Typically, people with plantar fasciitis experience heel and/or arch pain.

Plantar Fasciitis often develops when the foot overpronates (arches collapse and ankle rolls in). As the foot overpronates, the plantar fascia is over stretched, and over time, causes inflammation, and perhaps the development of heel spurs.

Why treat the symptoms when you can treat the cause? Let us help resolve your heel pain permanently.

Fungal Nails
Fungal nails are infections beneath the nail's surface, which often penetrates the nail itself. The nail may become discoloured, brittle, loosened from the nail bed, thickened, crumbly or foul smelling. In severe cases, surgical removal of the nail may be necessary.

With proper treatment, we can help return your nails to a healthy, normal appearance.

Bunions
Bunions are an enlargement at the side of the foot, at the big toe joint, which can be painful. Bunions are hereditary and quite often they are exasperated by the shoes we wear.

Bunions form because of a mechanical imbalance called overpronation.
This imbalance puts more pressure on the big toe joint resulting in a misalignment of the joint. If caught early, the imbalance can be corrected with custom orthotics preventing the bunion from worsening. If left untreated, the big toe joint may completely dislocate, needing surgical correction.

Claw Toes/Hammertoes

Claw toes/hammertoes form because of a muscle imbalance. It is not uncommon for calluses to form at the tip of the toes and bottom of the foot with this condition. Initially, the toe will be flexible and you will be able to straighten it.
Over time it may become a permanent, rigid deformity, requiring surgery. It is important to treat the toes while they are still flexible. Surgical option available for flexible claw toes.

Varicose Veins/
Compression Stockings
Varicose veins are swollen veins that are visible just under the skin. They are linked to heredity, but pregnancy, obesity, prolonged standing, and crossing legs are all factors.

Varicose veins are a sign of a more serious problem, venous insufficiency. That is, the valves in the veins are not working properly, and instead of blood being returned to the heart, it is pooling in the legs.

Signs and symptoms of varicose veins include tired, achy legs, swelling and cramps.

Compression stockings provide compression to the leg. Exerting pressure against the leg helps the veins work more effectively. Compression therapy helps decrease venous pressure and decreases swelling and relieves tired, achy legs.

Nails, Callus & Corns
Callus forms on the foot when there is rubbing, resulting in thickened skin. Corns are similar to callus, but a focal point of pressure pushes a tiny area of that thickened skin into the foot.

In many instances, corns and callus that form on the bottom (plantar aspect) of the foot are the result of your bone structure and/or a mechanical abnormality. In some cases, these plantar lesions can be eliminated altogether with proper medical attention.
We also provide routine foot care for seniors and diabetics. Also known as a medical pedicure, routine foot care involves nail cutting and filing down thick nails, and the removal of corns and callus. Routine foot care appointments are typically booked every 6-8 weeks depending on how quickly your toenails grow.

Ingrown Toenails
Ingrown toenails are usually caused by cutting toenails too short. They can be hereditary, but may also be caused by pressure from tight shoes, trauma, or fungal infections.

Ingrown toenails occur when the corners of the toenail dig into the skin. If the skin is broken it can lead to infection. With repeated infection, the skin may grow over the toenail, resulting in a large, swollen, tender mass.

Treatment for ingrown toenails ranges from conservative foot soaks, to permanent surgical correction. You don't have to suffer with painful, ingrown toenails. They can be eliminated forever!

Warts
Plantar warts appear on the bottom of the foot or toes. They tend to be flat and hard and can be quite painful. Plantar warts are often mistaken for corns or calluses, however, warts are caused by a virus (HPV). If you look closely at a wart, you may see pinpoint black dots.

Warts are often contracted in warm, moist environments, such as pools and locker rooms. In some instances, they spontaneously go away, and sometimes it can take years. Warts can also spontaneously come back. If left untreated, they can spread or form clusters.

Treatment of warts includes prescription creams, acids, or in severe cases, surgery.

Neuroma
Morton's Neuroma is a sharp, burning pain that usually occurs at the ball of the foot between the 3rd and 4th toes when the nerve becomes inflamed. It can also cause numbness and tingling across the entire forefoot. Typically, symptoms occur after extended periods of activity.

Tight fitting shoes (e.g. high heels) can also cause symptoms. Increased pressure across the forefoot squeezes the nerve causing discomfort and a sharp pain.

Treatment for Morton's Neuroma ranges from conservative to surgical. Surgical options are often used as a last resort.

Diabetic Foot Care
Foot health is a major concern for diabetics. Diabetes can be associated with nerve damage (neuropathy), the loss of sensation to the feet. Diabetes also decreases blood flow, causing injuries to take a long time to heal and increasing the risk for infection. Increased pressure due to something as simple as a callus can lead to a break down in skin, infection, and in severe cases, amputation.

If you have diabetes, you should inspect your feet every day looking for changes in colour, appearance, or the presence of blood.

Have your feet properly cared for and monitored by a qualified health care professional.

Pediatrics
The first years of a child's life are important regarding the development of their feet. Because a child's foot is so soft and supple, abnormal pressure can result in deformities.

Common problems among infants and young children include flat feet, toe walking and in-toeing. Common complaints among older children include heel pain, fungal/bacterial infections, warts and ingrown nails.

It is the parent's responsibility to monitor the feet of their children. Signs that may indicate a problem include pain, uneven shoe wear, bumps on the feet, complaints of pain in the foot or ankles and tripping and falling.
